Function, Ethics, and Future Prospects of Implanted Biomedical Blood Glucose Biosensors

William M. Payne, Gardner-Webb University

Abstract

This thesis concentrates on the efficacy of managing diabetes through the use of implanted medical devices (IMDs) that measure blood glucose concentration. While a few examples of other IMDs will be provided, the implanted blood glucose monitor technology currently available provides an ideal multidisciplinary case study to examine the modern applications of computer science, mathematics, and information security alongside the biochemical and biomedical engineering disciplines in modern medicine.
