Gravestone transcription - "Here lies the body of Lieut. Thomas McCullough belonging to Col. Campbell's Regiment Virginia. Who lot his life in and for the honorable just and righteous cause of liberty at the defeating of Col. Ferguson's infamous company or [word unknown] Kings Mountain in October 7, 1780."

Notation from back of photo - "A picture of the old stone at the grave of Lieut. McCullough who was buried here in the Brittain Church Cemetery - he was wounded at Kings Mountain and died in an old for near here."
