Abstract

This article explores the profound influence that past and present experiences can have on skill development, recognition, and subsequent professional success. Drawing from insights by Malcolm Knowles and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), this paper examines how diverse life experiences serve as a foundation for skill acquisition and application. It emphasizes the role of educators and helping professionals in fostering students' awareness of their skills and transferring them across different contexts. By integrating andragogy principles and practical strategies, this article provides guidance for educators to facilitate skills recognition and application, ultimately enhancing students' readiness for the workforce.
