Description
World Autism Awareness Day is on April 2, and the observance on Gardner-Webb University’s campus will be supported by multiple groups, including the staff of the Noel Center for Disability Resources and the students they serve. Over the last two decades, the number of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has increased significantly. Based on the most recent data, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that approximately 1 in 44 children have been identified as having ASD, which compares to 1 in 150 in 2000.
