  1905: Boiling Springs High School is Founded

  The Kings Mountain Baptist Association invites neighboring Sandy Run Baptist Association to be co-leaders of a Baptist high school in Boiling Springs, NC.

  1907: Huggins Curtis Opens

  Huggins Curtis, the first academic and residence building on campus, was opened in 1907. This building remained the primary academic building on campus until the 1940's. It was named after Boiling Springs High School's first principal, J.D. Huggins, and Dean of Women, Etta Curtis.

  1909: Four Literary Societies are Founded at Boiling Springs High School

  Four literary and debate societies are formed on campus. Kalliergeonean and Ramsaur for women, and Kalagathean and Athenian for men.

  1912: The Granite Arch is Erected on Campus

  The granite arch is erected on campus marking the first use of the school's motto "Pro Deo et Humanitate" (For God and Humanity). The arch is dedicated as the J. D. Huggins Memorial Arch in 1943.

  1917: W.J. Cash Delivers Commencement Address

  W. J. Cash, member of the 1917 graduating class, delivers the commencement address. Cash would go on to publish the novel Mind of the South in 1941.

  1922: Martin Dewey Whitaker Graduates

  Martin Dewey Whitaker of Ellenboro, NC graduates. Whitaker, a nuclear physicist, would go on to become director of the Atomic Energy Commission Laboratory and President of Lehigh University. He returned to campus to deliver the 1959 homecoming address.

  1928: Boiling Springs High School becomes Boiling Springs Junior College

  The Alma Mater is written and presented to the College by Horace G. and Lorene Woody Hammett.
