Description
The 1960 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. The missionary sermon was given by John Lawrence. The Women's Missionary Union reported the 75th anniversary of the Sunbeam Band. A program for juvenile rehabilitation called the Christian Sponsorship Program is introduced. It was mentioned in the report of North Carolina Baptist Homes for the Aging that the construction of a new home called the Hamilton Home would hopefully begin in the summer. The missions council proposed the possible implementation of a Sunday School class for the deaf as well as one for the mentally disabled. It was noted in the report of Public Morals and Civic Righteousness that there are more bartenders than ministers in the country.
