Description
The 1955 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Zion Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, and New Prospect Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. The missionary sermon was given by John E. Lawrence. The Women's Ministry Union reported the adddition of Chairman of Prayer and Chairman of Missionary Fundamentals. The Foreign Mission report announced the number of foreign misionaries to be at 1,000 for the first time. The General Board reported that W.V. Tarlton took over as chairman of Evangelism. There was a report that aqcuiring land and creating a camp for Region 8 of North Carolina is underway. The report on the Baptist World Alliance announced membership having reached about twenty million, and that a new International Baptist Theological Seminary has been established in Switzerland.
