Description
The 1945 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Fallston Baptist Church in Fallston, NC and Waco Baptist Church in Cherryville, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by Zeno Wall. The theme of this associational meeting was "The Call and Challenge of a New Era." The report on Education stated that families should encourage both their boys and girls to attend college. The report on World Missions in the New Era stated that an increase was needed in mission work to heal the world. Currently, 13 Central and South American countries have not had a Baptist missionary along with the Soviet Union and "Mohammedan" countries. A report on the Conditions within Our Territory state that there are many unchurched locations within Cleveland County which are of concern. The committee on Public Morality reported that in the last year 1,029 arrests were made for public drunkeness and 657 arrests for other crimes. Continued concerns for the care of aging or infirm ministers were reported. Obituaries noted those servicemen who were killed in action or were a casualty of war.
