Max Gardner Foundation, and the Brinkley gift of the GWU Marching Band uniforms.
Issue was awarded the Davey Award. The Davey is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.

Gardner-Webb, The Magazine, previously titled The Webb Magazine, focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. This issue includes several articles about awards and accolades given to students, staff, and Gardner-Webb programs. There is a short article announcing the addition of the Education Hall of Fame. Gardner-Webb's online degrees and classes are praised. Many students are highlighted for their outreach in local and international communities, and several alumni are mentioned for their achievements and contributions to the school and community. Dr. Tom Meaders, a professor at Gardner-Webb is interviewed about his involvement in the Apollo 13 rescue mission. There is a section in the magazine dedicated to honoring those who have passed that impacted Gardner-Webb, and this issue honors several people including Mike Roebuck, Jim Wiles, Hoyt Bailey,Charles Tichenor, and John Brock. This issue won the Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA) program Gold Award in the category of single magazine publication, an achievement reached by only three other universities in the nation. This marks the second consecutive year Gardner-Webb has won this award for creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality, and overall appeal. GWU earned the highest marks for single magazine publication among institutions with 2,000 to 5,000 students. This issue was the Hermes Creative Awards Platinum Winner for print publications: magazine category. The HCA is administered by the Association of Marketing & Communications Professionals (AMCP).

This issue includes articles about the achievements of staff and students, awards and honors that Gardner-Webb has received, and new events and additions to the school. One article takes a look into the first 10 years of Dr. Frank A. Bonner's presidency. There are several articles highlighting students, alumni, and programs on campus like the softball team and Paws Awhile, a program that brings therapy dogs to Gardner-Webb. Eddie Holbrook is honored by the addition of his name to the basketball court. There is also a section honoring those who have passed that contributed to Gardner-Webb including Manual "Allen" Setzer, Roger Hornsby McKee, Dan Proctor, Lonnie Proctor, and Mike Roebuck.

This issue of the magazine won the Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA) and Gold Award for single magazine publication and the Merit Award for cover graphic design. This dual achievement has only been attained by five schools in the nation. Merit Award for cover graphic design, this award recognizes excellence across the board, including writing, graphic design, photography and production. Criteria for the award included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality, and overall appeal. GWU’s entry earned the highest marks for single magazine publication among institutions with 2,000 to 5,000 students. This issue was also awarded the Gold Award of Excellence in cover design and the Silver Award of Distinction in educational institutional magazines by the Communicator Awards presented by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA).

The magazine redesign recognized by the “Non-Profit Communications Report,” a national newsletter that provides practical tips and techniques to strengthen an organization’s communications, community relations and media relations efforts nonprofitcommunicationsreport.com. This issue includes many articles relating to the arts, such as music and theatre. Talented students and alumni are showcased on various platforms, from photography to being a harpist. Along with that, the WGWG Radio Station is featured in an article. There is also an emphasis on missions/outreach in this issue; the diversity of the types of community service that GWU is involved in is great, as the work ranges from disaster relief to combating human trafficking. Sports updates are provided along with alumni updates towards the end of the issue.

The opening of the Tucker Student Center is featured along with sports updates and praise for a new enrollment record.

Gardner-Webb, The Magazine, previously titled The Webb Magazine, focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. The majority of this issue is dedicated to telling the stories of multiple members of the Cherokee people; Gardner-Webb students and alumni both share their unique stories and experiences about their Native American heritage all throughout this issue. Following articles range in topic from new programs being implemented at Gardner-Webb to the publicity that the university had been receiving in the entertainment world, such as the Hunger Games being filmed close to campus and GW alumnus Ron Rash's novel "Serena" being made in to a film. Several famous groups/individuals visited the GW campus, such as the band NEEDTOBREATHE and former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich. The end of the issue includes stories about former and current Gardner-Webb students and a reminder to campus visitors about the new Tucker Student Center. This issue was awarded the Award of Excellence in Publications Writing for District III (Southeastern United States) by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

The magazine also works to recognize several other well-known people such as Dr. Gerald Keown, newly elected Chair of biblical studies, and the nurses striving to reach their goals. Gardner-Webb also launched a $45 million capital campaign. Other important topics of this magazine revolve around music, sports, and lending a helping hand.

The magazine then moves on to recognize the new opening of an apartment style residence hall and the new distinguished alumni. One of the big stories in this issue is the one entitled "Drivers Education" and how alternative ideas fueled a class project. GWU also honors Jordan Boyd Traylor, a fallen soccer player by retiring his jersey.
