Honors Students Participate in their first TSD of the Semester

Several times each semester, the Honors Students Association (HSA) takes students to “Try Something Different” (TSD) where they are able to eat foods that they may have not been subjected to previously. Friday, September 18th, was their first trip of this semester landing them in Bangkok Cafe in Spartanburg, SC for some Thai Cuisine. Check out the photo story from the event:

Runnin' Bulldogs Fall to Charleston Southern

Sigma Zeta Hosts Slip and Slide

On Wednesday, September 23rd, Gardner-Webb’s National Science and Math Honor Society, Sigma Zeta, hosted a slip and slide. The money raised will be going to travel costs needed to teach people about Fish Farming.

Student Learn Spanish Dancing from TA's

Every week the Spanish Teaching Assistants (TA’s) host a conversation table in the Broad River Coffee Shop where students can practice their Spanish and make connections with the TA’s. Monday, November 9th, the conversation table was taken up a notch by adding a dancing lesson.

Students 'Fill the Hill' at Men's Soccer Game
GWU Today
On Tuesday night, September 29th, men’s soccer suffered a devastating 0-4 loss against Clemson. However, throughout the game, they were supported by a large community of students in an attempt to “Fill the Hill” with specific shirt colors representing their student class. Seniors in black, juniors in red, sophomores in grey and freshmen in white.

A Homelessness Banquet hosted by Campus Civitan will give students a hands-on learning experience on the realities of class disparities on Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Faith Hall of the Tucker Student Center.

Release the Captives Bring Rory Tyer Band to GWU, Raise Money to Fight Child Labor

Chicago-based Rory Tyer Band, performed in Dover Theater on Wednesday, Nov. 18 to help raise money for an organization devoted to help rescuing children from child labor conditions in Ghana. Release the Captives, a Gardner-Webb club that focuses on raising awareness for modern day slavery and human trafficking, hosted and planned for the band to come to Boiling Springs as part of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.

The Festival of Lights took place in the Tucker Student Center on Thursday, December 4, at 7 p.m. This was the first time the event was held in the Tucker Student Center, due to electric work occurring in Dover Theatre.

Lake Hollifield Found Not to be Toxic

Lake Hollifield is the body of water that resides between the back of the Tucker Student Center and the Student Suite and Apartment complexes. Many people play disc golf, fish or stroll along its banks. This lovely attraction to the campus has recently encountered some startling and disturbing rumors.
