ESPNU Airs Runnin' Bulldogs Men's Basketball Game

For the first time in Gardner-Webb history, ESPNU will televise the Runnin’ Bulldogs men’s basketball team tonight, at 7 p.m. in the Paul Porter Arena. “People you see on ESPN will be there,” said Katie Spiro, Director of Marketing & Promotions for Athletics at GWU.

Snow Day at GWU Results in Snowball Fights and Igloos

Snow began to fall on campus around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The weather forecast was calling for 6 to 9 inches of snow. By 10 p.m. the ground was already covered with 3 inches of snow and it wasn’t going to stop until 5 a.m. Many students on Wednesday night went out exploring to see what adventures awaited them.

The club was jumpstarted when several Japanese students from Chiba University visited Gardner-Webb last year.The welcome party that was given in honor of the students allowed for a group of students interested in Japanese culture to gather.

Gardner-Webb Theatre Presents Its First Play of the Season

Theatre goers filled Gardner Webb’s Millennium Playhouse with anticipation as they waited for “The Children’s Hour” to officially open on Friday Oct. 2.Directed by Christopher Nelson, “The Children’s Hour” is a riveting drama based on the lives of two teachers, Martha and Karen, played by Madison Wait and Rachel Sedota respectively. Their lives take a turn when Mary, played by Holly Strother, spins a vast web of lies against the two teachers.

GWU Hosts High School Play Festival, Promotes Theatre Arts

Gardner-Webb opened its doors to 12 high schools for the annual North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC) High School Play Festival on Nov. 6 and 7. High school theatre groups presented their 45 minute theatre productions, and two plays—“Love Sick” by Hopewell High School and “Fighting Demons” by Lake Norman High School—moved on to the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC).
