The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. This issue covers that the Dover Foundation awarded a second million dollar pledge to the university. President White joined an educational foundation focused primarily on higher education. Ma. Marguerite Noel passed away, but her legacy lives on as the recently built Noel Hall, was named after her. There were many new scholarships added and received. A previous Vice President joined the staff in the person of Dr. Thomas J. McGraw. Bolivia was once again the site of a mission trip for Gardner Webb Students.

The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. This issue highlights yet another tragic passing in the GWU community. This comes in the person of Mr. E. Jerome Scott, who passed away suddenly at a faculty retreat. Mr. Bobby Lutz was named the new men's basketball coach. The first class of the new School of Divinity officially graduated. GWU hosted the Olympics hopefuls, the US National Cycling Team. Rev. David Gomes (Gomez) received an honorary doctorate degree. GWU revealed its new School of Education, headed by Dr. Dee Hunt. The university also revealed a new American Sign Language set to debut in the 1995 Fall.

The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. The University received a new Vice President, Mr. Bruce Moore. Dr. Shirley Toney was named the new dean of the Nursing Program. The MBA program had their first class of graduates within summer commencement. The university also began offer weekend classes.E. Jerome Scott's legacy was remembered when a oak tree was dedicated in his honor. Football standout Terry Guess was highlighted in this issue, as well as, the three night games that the Bulldogs would host. After the resignation of Bobby Lutz, a new basketball coach was found in Mr. Rick Scruggs.

This issue heavily shows the different paths alumni have taken, whether they be building the Panthers stadium, serving as ministers, or if their path has lead them back to Gardner-Webb as campaign managers. We are reminded in this issue of the different paths life has. The Summer Olympic cycling trials were hosted at the campus. There are also beautiful pictures of the Spring Landscape in this issue.

This issue features several pages concerning the olympic cycling team that was to be found around GW's campus. Also featured is a section about University President Chris White; after having spent a decade there, White spoke about those years in the segment with a certain fondness and pride. Gifts given to the university are also mentioned, such as Bill Gates' gift of $134,000 and the generosity of the Hollifield family concerning the Lake Hollifield Complex. The success of the annual athletic auction is mentioned in this issue, as well as the date for homecoming in October.

The majority of this issue is about the Annual Report which features figures, numbers, and graphs concerning Gardner-Webb's financial status.

This issue begins with an article about Charles Tichenor, a successful businessman who joined GWU faculty as the new chief executive-in-residence and professor of business. Following is an update about changes concerning the GW Divinity School, an article praising GWU President Chris White on having received an honorary doctorate of musical arts from Moscow State University, and praises for Gardner-Webb's success in becoming a "top scholarship school". Also, the additions/changes to the Noel Program for the Disabled are discussed, Bert and Debbie Ayers are recognized for their missionary work in Albania, and sports updates are provided. The issue concludes with faculty/staff recognitions, an article in honor of Winifred Lindsay who was a long-time benefactor of GW scholarship funds, and one student's personal testimony of the usefulness of Gardner-Webb GOAL Program.

Much of the beginning of this issue discusses the importance of character and how Gardner-Webb plans to continue to develop character within its students; having been named a "character-building institution", GW had a lot to live up to. Following are articles recognizing several faculty members for their accomplishments and legacies at Gardner-Webb. Students and alumni alike are recognized in this issue for both their work abroad and within the United States, the Broyhill Adventure course receives a special article providing details about it, recipients of the African-American Scholarship are recognized, and the recipient of the newly endowed chair of the Divinity School is recognized.

Much of this issue is dedicated to recognizing all of the positive changes occuring for Gardner-Webb University. Described as a "new era", this was a time of great accomplishment for Gardner-Webb's growing success. Several professors and other faculty members are recognized for their individual accomplishments in this issue alongside several articles related to GW students, both current and former. The athletic section of this issue boasts the addition of seven Division One athletes to the football team; other articles feature news about the Global Mission Resource Center, a former homecoming queen's success in her career, and an Israeli man's life as a pastor.

This issue focuses on the meaning of the word 'honor' to Dr. Gil Blackburn and SGA President Ms. Hannah Woody. Along with this big top story, there were also big innovative missions set for 2001. In order for this to be successful they need the students involved, which they are in the senior pinning tradition, scholarship luncheons, and at times, running. Ms. Sylvia Chelimo takes the last stated action, running, very seriously as mentioned in the article titled, "The Race of Her Life". More sports are recognized such as the football team's big finish and the postseason play related to ESPN.

The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. This issue reflects on the overall importance of teachers in relation to the college experience. The issue also focuses on the highlight of the GWU graduation as given by a Broyhill Honorary Doctorate. It is also important to recognize the different departments at GWU such as the office of Academic Affairs and their newly elected Assistant Vice President, Dr. Philip Williams. Along with Dr. Williams, the baseball team captured the regional championship, Dr. Paul Jolley was named SAC Hall of Fame, the School of Nursing goes on display , and the School of Divinity received several upgrades. These upgrades include, a full accreditation, a new campaign, and successful fundraisers. Lastly, Ms. Starr Gist Wright was featured in The Web's "Portrait of a Rising Star" for her love of writing. Wright said, "I am a write first. before anything else, I am a writer."

The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. This issue's top story on plans and possibilities is given by former N.C. Superior Court Judge John M. Gardner in which he includes his opinions on law school, a new campus, and the NCAA Division 1. Former Pastor, Dr. Robert Canoy, takes on the role as Associate Dean of GWU. It is also important to recognize students and their experiences in life. In this issue a young man by the name of Donnie Thurman tells us about his near-death experience and the death of his mother and how that has motivated him to pursue a career in Vocational Rehabilitation. Lastly, since we last met, NC Senator Walter Dalton was honored at the summer graduation.

The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. Alumni in the loop is the main focus of this issue. GWU alumni are greatly involved with helping to shape the future of GW. Several new programs are underway such as GWU's first ever doctoral program and the teacher education program. This issue also focuses on diversity with the students through personal anecdotes given by students who had to fight for their freedoms and are now fighting for diversity and equality. In bulldog athletics, golf adds another national championship and basketball begins to heat up.

President Christ White hits the 15-year mark of being president and he is still pressing forward. Also, the Williams Observatory celebrates its first decade of being on campus. Another accomplishment by the staff was by Nell Griggs for celebrating her 36 year career at GWU. Students at GWU are taking a look at diversity such as Kelly Harrison, an English major, who is trying to see things from a different perspective. In sports news, the men's basketball team were "all smiles" after defeating Appalachian.

The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. Gardner-Webb University celebrates its recent recognition in the Portfolio of Excellence as an "exemplary" institution. GWU also has a first for two graduation ceremonies in May due to the number of students. Many students were recognized in this issue such as Donnie Thurman Jr. following in his father's footsteps and other graduating students ending their career with recognitions. Another big change is coming to GWU such as the push to diversify the faculty. A few different programs are recognized along with a mom defining the word 'sacrifice'. The men's basketball team won the NCCAA National Championship along with the men's and women's tennis teams.

This issue also dives more in depth about the diversity on campus by interviewing people from Uganda, Ghana, and Korea. The football team was also rater as top I-AA Independent for 2001.

The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. In this issue of The Web, the GWU Centennial is recognized and will occur in 2005. Traditions are a huge defining factor at GWU, even from the beginning. It was a Baptist idea from the very start. This issue also covers the entire history of the college from its start to where it is now. Carolyn Lewis Duncan (class of 1972) reflects her memories of time on campus. Many of the faculty members are mentioned such as Dr. Jim Lawrence and Dr. Matt Theado. Students are also recognized for award in the science field, their compassion for the public, and their overall personalities.
The Web Magazine served as the official magazine for alumni and friends of Gardner-Webb University from 1967 - 2008. The Web Magazine was preceded by The Gardner-Webb Quarterly, in print from 1954 - 1965. Gardner-Webb, The Magazine serves as the current official magazine, providing updates on campus life and featured spotlights on alumni.
